Join the Friends

The Friends Charity was formed in 1992 to assist the PCC to preserve, maintain and replace the fabric of St Giles Church, its monuments, ancient wall paintings, fixtures & fittings, historic brasses and the churchyard.  Research into the history of the Church is also within our remit, provided that the results are published.

A non-denominational organisation, the Friends is open to anyone - whether a churchgoer or not.  Many of us simply share a love and respect for this beautiful 800 year old building that sits at the centre of our village and community, and would like to see it (and the extraordinary art and history within) preserved, respected and enhanced.

We do this in three ways:

a)   A number of events each year raise funds for the Friends - concerts, Quiz supper, talks and more.   Costs are kept to the bare minimum and sponsorship to cover the cash costs of delivering the events are sought.

b) Membership is a vital income stream, with an annual subscription starting at just £20.   As the Friends is a registered Charity, if you are UK tax payer you can authorise us to recover Gift Aid from the Inland Revenue, increasing the size of your donation.   Membership can be paid annually in one lump sum, or by monthly donation.

c) One-off Donations: The easiest way to make a one-off donation is to make an electronic payment through the Friends' account at the Charities Aid Foundation Bank (CAF).  A link to this account is at the top of this page.  Alternatively, please send a cheque payable to The Friends of Chalfont St Giles Parish Church c/o the Treasurer, Chalfont St. Giles Parish Church, High Street, Chalfont St Giles, Bucks, HP8 4QF. If Gift Aid may be claimed on your donation, please indicate this and provide your full name and address along with your donation.
